My father Jake Ehrlich Jr, and his sister Dora Jane Ehrlich walked over the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge the first day it was open back on November 12, 1936, as well as on the Golden Gate Bridge the first day it was open to the public on May 27, 1937.

So when my girlfriend mentioned to me tonight, just before midnight on Monday, September 2, 2013, that the San Francisco Bay Bridge Expansion had finally opened, I got in my car to go and check it out. It cost $6.4 Billion for 2.2 miles of absolute beauty and splendor. Unlike the older bridge it replaces, it has all ten lanes on the top, so drivers traveling in both directions get to enjoy the beautiful views!!!

I took this photos last summer when I was sailing out on San Francisco bay. I really like the way the late afternoon sun was shining on the American Flag, and that is Angel Island on the left side of the Golden Gate Bridge, and Sausalito on the right.
