Steve McQueen in Bullitt Haulin' on The Streets of San Francisco

Haulin' on The Streets of San Francisco

This is a fascinating photo of Steve McQueen hauling-ass through the San Francisco Marina in his Ford Mustang from the movie Bullitt. He is on Marina Boulevard heading North, and he just passed Fort Mason and Safeway.

I tried to find the exact vantage point, from the photo above. It is interesting to note that the Bank of America building (pictured on far right) was being erected in 1967-1968 and you can see its skeleton in the photo above, and see it as it is today in the picture below.

Sausalito View: PostCards From Paradise

Sausalito View
PostCards From Paradise

I am really excited to share a new feature with you that I plan to keep running on Jake's Streets Of San Francisco Blog. I am going to be calling it "Sausalito View." Several years ago, I discovered a website named that is owned and run by Don Strickler.

Essentially, Don setup a camera that takes photos of the San Francisco bay from Sausalito, California. If you are not familiar with Sausalito, it is on the opposite side of the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco. This first image is truly stunning!!! We see the towers of the Bay Bridge along with the downtown San Francisco skyline, gently popping out of the fog. image taken on Monday, March 5, 2012 @ 7:41am

Don's camera, which is located 900 feet above sea level, takes a snapshot of the San Francisco Bay and posts it on every minute of every day. I used to check it periodically to get a visual on the local weather conditions, but then I started noticing how amazing many of the images were, and it was remarkable how different each picture was–kind of like how Madonna always look like herself, but at the same time, she always is dressed so differently, she almost looks like a different person.

In the future, I plan to keep posting stunning images from the camera, including some crazy beautiful images from the past that I saved.
